Methodology

There is no single official standard for a broad proprietary USD strength index. This version uses AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, JPY, MXN, NOK, NZD, PLN, SEK, SGD, and ZAR with an equal 1/13 weight for each currency.

The index is 100 at the verified 2026-01-02 reference vector. It takes the geometric mean of each foreign-currency-per-USD rate relative to that base vector, so an increase means the dollar strengthened across the basket.

Equal weights stop one currency from dominating the result and make the method easy to audit. They do not represent trade flows, reserve shares, or investable exposure.

A point is emitted only when every constituent is present. Intraday timestamps must be within 30 seconds; missing baskets remain gaps and weights are never redistributed.
