Find the exchange rate for a specific date

Historical currency conversion by date

23 Oct 2026 · 1 min read

Pick two currencies and a date to see the daily close for that day. History goes back to 1999, with start dates varying by currency.

How daily closes work

A daily close is a recorded exchange rate used to represent a currency pair for that day. It shows how much of the target currency a unit of the starting currency was worth.

If a weekend or holiday has no daily close, we show the last close before that date and label its date.

These rates are indicative daily closes, not a bank's buy or sell rates.

Questions

How far back does the exchange rate history go?

History for major currencies goes back to 4 January 1999. Start dates vary by currency, so some pairs have a shorter history.

What happens on a weekend or holiday?

If there is no daily close for your chosen date, we show the last close before it and clearly display the date of that close.

Are these the exchange rates a bank used?

No. These are indicative daily closes. Banks set their own buy and sell rates, which can differ from the rates shown here.
